How to Measure Roller Shades
How to Measure for Inside Mount
Measure the Depth:
Measure your window frame for an inside mount. Minimum depth required:
1 3/4" (4.5 cm) for Cassette Valances and
2" (5 cm) for Square Valances.
Measure the Width:
Place the tape inside the window frame and measure from left to right at
the top, middle, and bottom. Keep the tape level and record each
measurement. Use the smallest measurement and round
down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").
Measure the Height:
Measure from top to bottom at the left, center, and right sides of the
window frame. Keep the tape vertical and record each measurement. Use
the largest measurement and round down to the nearest
1/8" (0.125").
Tips for Inside Mount
Inside mounts can be installed using either a
top mount or a side mount.
Top mount is the default option when placing an order.
For the default top-mount installation, the factory will make a small
deduction of approximately 1/8" (3.2 mm) from the
ordered width to help ensure a safe and proper fit.
If you prefer a side-mount installation, please specify
“Side Mount” in your order notes. Otherwise, we will be unable to make
the necessary adjustments, which may result in installation issues.
Check whether your window frame is bowed inward or outward. If it is,
measure the narrowest width and use that measurement
when placing your order. Otherwise, the shade may not fit inside the
window frame.
Ensure your window frame has sufficient depth:
1 3/4" (4.5 cm) for a Cassette Valance and
2" (5 cm) for a Square Valance.
The fabric is typically about
1 3/16" (approximately 3 cm) narrower than the valance
and ordered width.
How to Measure for Outside Mount
Measure the Space:
Measure the space above the window where the headrail will be installed.
Make sure there is enough flat space for secure bracket and headrail
installation.
Measure the Width:
We recommend adding 3–6 inches (7.6–15.2 cm) to the
exact window width for full coverage and improved light control.
Measure the Height:
Measure the window from top to bottom and add
3–6 inches (7.6–15.2 cm) for full coverage and maximum
light blockage.
Tips for Outside Mount
Add 3–6 inches to cover the window or trim for better
light control and privacy.
Outside mounting provides more room for the brackets and can make the
window appear larger.
Ensure there is 2–3 inches of flat space above the
window or frame for secure bracket installation.

Installation Difficulty: Level 1 — Quick and Easy!
Step 1: Position the Brackets
Place each mounting bracket in its intended location on the shade, then use a pencil to mark the corresponding screw points on the window frame or wall.
Follow the recommended bracket spacing and placement specified for your shade model.
Repeat this process for all remaining brackets.
Before drilling, use a level to confirm that all bracket positions are properly aligned.
Step 2: Secure the Brackets
Using a drill, create pilot holes at each marked screw location.
Take the brackets off the shade and position them over the prepared holes.
Fasten each bracket firmly to the wall or window frame with the appropriate screws.
Step 3: Mount the Shade
Lift the shade with both hands and position the top of the valance against the installed brackets.
Press one side of the shade into place so the plastic mounting tabs engage with the bracket.
Gently rotate the opposite side upward until it connects with the bracket hooks.
Apply light pressure until the shade snaps securely into position. Check that both sides are fully locked before releasing the shade.
Crafted with a cross-weave pattern of intersecting threads, the fabric delivers a soft, skin-friendly touch with a unique textured surface. The white blackout backing ensures 100% light blocking, providing both comfort and complete privacy.

Yes. Designed for complete blackout, these roller shades block all outside light, creating the perfect sleep environment. They’re ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms where total darkness and privacy are essential.
If you choose the rechargeable battery version, your shades will include a USB-C charging cable for quick and easy charging. A full charge provides weeks of smooth operation, minimizing the need for frequent recharging.
1. Hardwired shades require professional wiring during installation, making them best for larger projects or new builds.
2. Battery-powered shades are wire-free, easy to install, and ideal for existing spaces or renters.
However, your choice depends on window size, usage, and installation preferences.
Roller shades are designed for quick, hassle-free installation. They can be mounted inside or outside the window frame with just a few basic tools. For motorized or hardwired models, professional help may be recommended, but battery-powered options are simple for DIY setup.

Good quality, wish the motor moved a little faster. It's smooth but slow—takes about 25 seconds to roll all the way up. Not a dealbreaker but I notice it. Blackout is total.
L
Louisa M.
The fabric has a nice matte finish. Doesn't look shiny or cheap. The white color matches my trim perfectly and the blackout is complete.
S
Sharon F.
Two months in and zero issues. Motor is still quiet, remote still works, blackout still perfect. Solid product that does exactly what it says.
M
Mabel V.
I love that I can set a schedule. Shades go up at sunrise, down at sunset. It just happens automatically. My plants get light, I get privacy.
E
Elaine W.
Installation took me about 20 minutes for the first one and 10 for the second. Once you see how the brackets work it's easy. Blackout is perfect.
E
Eliza D.
The shade tucks up neatly behind the valance. No clutter, no visible hardware. My room feels more put-together and modern.
B
Barbara S.
Great shades, remote feels a little plasticky. The blackout itself is perfect—total darkness, no light leaks. But the remote buttons are small and it feels cheaper than the rest of the product. Would still buy again.
C
Clara A.
Three windows, three shades, zero problems. All paired to one remote. All roll evenly. All block the light. Exactly what I paid for.
D
Darlene P.
No light bleed at the top. That was my biggest fear with roller shades. The mounting design prevents it. My room is truly dark even at noon.
T
Theresa C.
Installation took longer than expected. The measuring was fine but getting the brackets perfectly level was a pain. I'd recommend watching a video first. Once up, they look and work great.
J
Joan T.
My room faces the street and I wanted total darkness for sleeping. These deliver. Can't see a thing once they're down. The remote makes it effortless.
S
Sienna B.
The motor is strong. No struggling even on a wide window. Lifts smoothly every time. Feels well-engineered and durable.
P
Patricia N.
The app is optional and that's perfect. I don't want another app on my phone. The remote works great. If I ever want to schedule things I can, but I don't have to.
F
Fiona J.
The valance is a nice touch. Hides the roller mechanism completely. Makes it look like a custom job instead of something I ordered online.
M
Maureen R.
Great for the price, battery could last longer. I'm charging every five weeks or so with daily use. Not terrible but I wish it went longer. The blackout and motor quality are excellent though.
N
Nora W.
I like that I can control multiple shades with one remote. All my bedroom windows go up and down together. Simple but useful.
C
Carol B.
The remote feels solid, not cheap. Nice weight to it. Buttons are responsive. I like that I can control multiple shades with one remote.
W
Willa F.
The remote range is impressive. I can close the shades from the hallway before I even walk into the room. Small thing but I appreciate it.
N
Nancy J.
Very happy overall, install was a bit fiddly. The brackets need to be lined up almost perfectly or the shade binds. Took me two tries on the first window. Once up, they work flawlessly and the blackout is excellent.
A
Annie E.
The motor is quiet enough that I can adjust the shade during conference calls without anyone noticing. That's the real test.
J
Janet H.
Bought these for my parents. They're not tech-savvy but figured out the remote in five minutes. My mom loves that she doesn't have to climb on a stool anymore.
T
Thea G.
Installation was easier than my old manual blinds. I was expecting a project but it was genuinely simple. The brackets are well-designed.
C
Colleen D.
The remote needs to be pointed directly at the shade. Not a huge deal but my old remote worked from anywhere in the room. This one is a bit finicky. The shade itself is great—quiet and dark.
