How to Measure for Inside Mount
- Measure the Depth: Measure the top depth of the window frame for in-frame installation of the Outdoor shade. For a flush fit inside the frame without protruding, a minimum depth of 2 1/8" (5.4 cm) is required.
- Measure the Width: Place the tape inside the window frame and measure left-to-right at the top, middle, and bottom. Keep it level, record each measurement, and use the smallest one, rounding down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").
- Measure the Height: Measure top-to-bottom at left, center, and right inside the frame. Keep the tape vertical; record each measurement. Use the largest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").
Tips for Inside Mount
- Ensure your window frame has enough depth for an inside mount.
- The minimum depth of 2 1/8" (5.4 cm).
- Note that the fabric width is usually about 2 1/8 " (5.4 cm) smaller than the valance (order width).
How to Measure for Outside Mount
- Measure the Space: Measure the height above the window where the headrail will be installed, ensuring enough space for the secure bracket and headrail placement.
- Measure the Width: Adding 2–6 inches (5.1 to 15.2 cm) to the exact width is recommended to cover the entire window and provide maximum light coverage.
- Measure the Height: Measure the window from top to bottom. Add 2–6 inches (5.1 to 15.2) to ensure full coverage and maximum light blockage.
Tips for Outside Mount
- Add 2–6 inches to cover the trim or window, ensuring better light control and privacy.
- Outside mounting accommodates brackets and makes the window look bigger.
- Ensure 2–3 inches of flat space above the window or frame for secure bracket installation.
