How to Measure Drapery

How to Measure for Inside Mount

  • Measure the Width: Place the tape inside the window frame and measure left-to-right at the top, middle, and bottom. Keep it level, record each measurement, and use the smallest one, rounding down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").
  • Measure the Height: Measure top-to-bottom at left, center, and right inside the frame. Keep the tape vertical; record each measurement. Use the largest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").

Tips for Inside Mount

  1. Add extra width based on window size: 28" for 59–106", 36" for 107–162", and 44" for 163–220".
  2. Make sure handles, hinges, or trim will not interfere with installation.
  3. When fully opened, drapes gather to the sides, so leave enough room to avoid obstruction.

How to Measure for Outside Mount

  • Measure the Width: Place the tape inside the window frame and measure left-to-right at the top, middle, and bottom. Keep it level, record each measurement, and use the largest one, rounding down to the nearest 1/8" (0.125").

Tips for Outside Mount

  1. Allow space for stacking — when fully opened, drapes gather to about 20% of the total width.
  2. The standard placement for the tracks is 2 inches (5 cm) above the window.
  3. To prevent the fabric from touching the floor, our factory will automatically reduce the height by 1/2 inch (1.5 cm).
